I received a Ph.D. in Anthropology from the University of Missouri-Columbia in 1999, an M.A. in Anthropology from the University of Texas-Arlington in 1996, and a B.A. in Anthropology from the University of Texas-Arlington in 1995. My education and research has focused on the archaeology and ethnohistory of cultures in the Great Plains, Midwest, and Intermountain West of North America.
I began my professional career in cultural resource management in 1993 and have directed archaeological projects in the academic, tribal, and corporate sectors. I served as the Senior Archaeologist/Heritage Sites Director for the Leech Lake Band of Ojibwe in 2002 and 2003, and as the Assistant Director/Research Archaeologist at the Center for Archaeological Research at MSU from 2005-2009 where I taught the MSU Archaeological Field School (2005-2008). Currently, I own a private cultural resource management firm.
Throughout my career, I have worked closely with numerous tribes, federal and state agencies, and private corporations. My research interests include historical archaeology of the fur trade, Native American removals and settlements, early Euroamerican homesteads, and the Civil War. My most recent publication is in The Missouri Archaeologist.
